How to suspend organization managed accounts using API

Denis Rousselle May 31, 2023

Hello,

I'm trying to deactivate some users without success, using rest API

I have no problem finding my organization's ID, nor retrieving user IDs.
The problem occurs when I try to suspend the accounts of users (I previously did a search on the users last login date) that have been inactive for a long time.
I have 219 users to disable.
I use the API
Suspend user access
and at this time I always have the same answer:

{"errors":[{"code":"ADMIN-400-4","status":"400","title":"ORG_NOT_SUPPORTED","detail":"Org is not supported. Learn more about the new user management experience: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Atlassian-Access-articles/User-management-for-cloud-admins-just-got-easier/ba-p/1576592"}]}

Is it a configuration problem on my side or is there a bug with this API ?

Could you please help me?

Thanks

Hello, @Denis Rousselle

On the very link you've provided it says:

"The API is available for customers using the new user management experience only."

The new user management experience have not been rolled out to all sites yet – you may need to reach out to Atlassian Support to request it to be enabled for your site.

In our UserManagement for Jira Data Center we have recently added support for Atlassian Cloud sources, using org APIs and Jira APIs, for bulk user actions.

We use Jira API to remove user from the site – this requires your personal access token rather than org admin token. You may want to try using this method instead, it may work with the "old" organisation.

Thank you so much.

We have migrated to the Organization Managed Accounts system, unfortunately this does not include the new user management system.
As I can't delete users, only deactivate them, I made a request to my hierarchy for this new system, if it's free they might accept.

It's free. You just need to raise a request with Atlassian Support and then wait – for some reason it does take time to trigger.
