How to create two different approval paths for one project workflow

Hello,

I am very new to Jira and I am working on creating a new project for my department. I am running into an issue with creating two different approval paths depending on the option selected in an issue field. 

Example- Submitting a vendor request for approval, we have 4 vendor types. If option A or B are selected, we need 2 approvers but if C or D are selected we need 3 approvers.

I have the approval rule currently set up in my workflow but I am wondering if I need to set two approval paths in the workflow or should I be using automation instead?

This is a Team Managed Project in JSM.

You will need to have two approval paths (transitions) on your workflow.  This way you can set the specific number of approvers needed on that transition.
