How to assign a field to certain group to access the field

I need to assign a field to a user to fill, update or edit the field .

Can someone help me how to do the above task

So am I right in assuming that you want only that team to be able to change that field?

Sadly in Jira you cannot put restrictions on a field level as to who can edit/view something. A workaround here could be to

  • put the field that you want them to edit on a transition screen
  • Add a transition (could be a looping one from a status back to that status) and add that new screen to that transition
  • put a workflow property on the transition so that only that group can do the transition (and make that field mandatory?)

This will make it so that only they can see the transition, it pops up the window with the field on it and they can edit it. You can leave the field on the view screen so it shows after filled in.

I am creating a custom field for rating given by architects.

So the rating should be given only by the architects.

Can you please guide me how to do the above.
