Error: Invalid request payload. Refer to the REST API documentation...

John O_Reilly December 19, 2022

In JSM, user submitting a very typical request; one that they have made several times in the past with no issue. Now they are getting this error:

Invalid request payload. Refer to the REST API documentation and try again.

What is the issue and more importantly, what is the solution? "Refer to REST API documentation" is not helpful as it doesn't provide a link to the documentation and I suspect I wouldn't want to go making changes to the API regardless (if i even can).

This begs the question of what they are sending and why it now appears to be invalid.

I'm not saying they are doing anything wrong, my guess is that Jira was discarding invalid data before and is now giving warnings instead of throwing it away, which is an improvement.  But there's not a lot we can tell you without knowing what is being sent.

I submitted a support ticket too. This is a bug and has been elevated to Atlassian Dev.

The same user did the same tasks with no issues today.
