Emails from domains outside our organization are getting rejected with the following error found in the logs:
"DMARC-validation email filter"
DMARC has been enabled for about a year for our service project with no issues. Our security team did not change any dmarc or email settings recently.
Below are some screenshots of our email and access settings. None of these settings were changed recently.
Have there been updates to Jira's DMARC or email settings recently? Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Thanks
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your question on community.
The DMARC validation for incoming emails is a protection against fraudulent emails, such as phishing emails, and helps ensure that the sender is validated. This is a configuration on your site, and is described in Manage DMARC authentication for incoming emails:
Manage your DMARC settings
You must be a Jira site admin to manage DMARC settings. To enable or disable DMARC:
- Go to Settings > System > Incoming Mail.
- Under DMARC incoming email authentication select Enable or Disable.
(!)DMARC will override allowlists. If DMARC is enabled and an email from someone on an allowlist fails a DMARC check, their email will be blocked.
That said, if you want emails to stop being rejected by DMARC, you can disable this validation in your site, which is not recommended as it's a security feature. Or engage the mail server team from the sender to address the issues with the incoming emails as they aren't DMARC compliant.
Let me know if I can be of any additional assistance.
Regards,
Anusha A
