We have had a new user request from a Customer and they have supplied an email address the format of which is firstname.surname@domain. Other users of that Customer have an underscore instead of a ., so initially we thought this was a mistake. But on consultation with the Customer and emailing the user in question we have found that the email is correct.
So, my question, why is JIRA rejecting this email address and failing to create the user account. When I invited an email address with an _ between firstname and surname it let me do it, but subsequently I emailed that address and it bounced back at me.
And now I don't seem to be able to delete the account.
Any help would be appreciated.
