Hello everyone,
I would like to ask a question that I have not been able to find an answer to by browsing the internet or active community posts.
I would like to know if people have already managed to connect an HR tool (mine is Personio) to Jira Service Management and Insight.
For example when HR creates a new profile of a new employee (assigned PC, Name and surname etc) that it automatically creates a ticket in Jira Service Management or creates an object in the insight function of Jira.
I know that there are companies like Zapier that allow the connection between different applications but the objective would be to set up a 100% customised solution by our company.
Thanks in advance for your help and future advice!
Youri
hello @Youri Soposki just to give you another perspective, we also have Personio and what we did was a simple mail handler setup on a jira software project. We setup a template email coming from personio at a scheduled time (example 2 weeks before the new employees starts) and with smart value queries from this text we created jira automation to grab the user details such as name, surname, start date etc and populate custom fields, then all the rest of automation is based on those custom fields values.
You can also look at marketplace app OnRamp that does exactly this (disclosure: I am with the vendor). Whenever a new hire (or other events like terminations) occur in Personio, we create a ticket in Jira or JSM. This app supports other HR systems like BambooHR, Workday, Paylocity and ADP Workforce.

@Youri Soposki Welcome to the Atlassian community
It looks like Personio has an API that you could use to connect to the JSM API This would require you to do some development. You could also use a third-party tool like Zapier or Tray.io to connect the two applications. Reviewing the functionality of the third-party tool would provide a good insight into what you could build on your own.

Thanks @Brant Schroeder for your response !!
Do you know by any chance if there are some concrete examples posted in the forums of the use of the Personio API and the JSM API? I tried to look for some examples but it was unsuccessful unfortunately...

@Youri Soposki I am not aware of any examples. You would have to look at the documentation for both APIs and ensure that the proper information is being passed in the correct format. I would suggest looking at what is available through the third-party apps because they are just using the APIs. That would allow you to understand what functionality is available to determine if it will meet your needs before you begin researching the APIs and developing your own solution.

If you are looking at a platform to handle the API communication/pipelines you could always look at Adaptavist Autoblocks (https://www.adaptavist.com/blog/introducing-autoblocks)
I've only played a bit with it but it's basically a fully customizable hosted middleware that allows you to integrate multiple tools.
