Hey,

I want to add watchers by group, but there is no option. I am trying from smart value but not succeeding, What I am trying is that, retrieving users account id from group to multiuser picker then adding multi user picker value to Watchers. Is there a better way?

Hi @Muhammad Moazzam Hassan ,

watcher is a user picker field so you can't use groups to populate it.

Hi @Muhammad Moazzam Hassan

As Fabio very well stated, watchers is a multi user picker field. So you can't really use groups in there. If your intention is to notify said group, then what you can do is:

  • Create a new (single or multi) group custom field called e.g. "Viewer"
  • Place this field on the Edit or View issue screen (according to your likings)
  • Then edit the notification scheme and place that field (Viewer) to the update notification event.

By doing the above, the group(s) will be notified for all changes to the issue, just like watchers. The downside is that they can't remove themselves from this field.

Let me know if that helps you.

Hey Alex Koxaras,

I hope you are doing well, I have your solution. I am updating a Viewer(muli-group-picker) field while transitioning from one status to another. Still, the hurdle is that every time it replaces the value of the viewer rather than adding it.
