The day is here! As we mentioned in our June update, the collective group of asset and configuration management capabilities known as Insight is now called Assets. Jira Service Management Data Center customers will see this update as part of the 5.3 release, while our rollout to Cloud customers completed this week.
The full functionality of the features from Insight will remain the same with Assets. We’re making this change in name to help customers more easily navigate our platform and better understand where to go for specific functionality.
The biggest difference you’ll see is the word “Assets” appearing in the top navigation where “Insight” used to sit.
Besides navigation in-product, there are other branding changes that accompany the introduction of Assets:
IQL: Insight Query Language (IQL) will change its name to Assets Query Language (AQL). The functionality will remain the same and will be backwards compatible.
APIs: Customers can continue to use them the way they do today. We will support both /Insight and /Assets.
Insight Discovery: Our native network scanning tool to detect, collect, and import asset or CI details into Jira Service Management is also part of the rebrand, changing from Insight Discovery to Assets Discovery. This solution will continue to be free for customers via Atlassian Marketplace.
Integration Apps: Existing Atlassian Insight Marketplace Apps will start referring to Assets. We encourage other marketplace partners with apps or integrations connected to Insight to begin adjusting their materials to use Assets branding.
Looking to learn more about asset and configuration management? We will be hosting a dedicated breakout session at our upcoming service management event - Atlassian Presents: High-Velocity ITSM. Join us in London on December 8 or virtually everywhere on December 13 and look out for the session, “Jamming with Assets in Jira Service Management.” We’ll be covering Assets basics, how to get started, top use cases, and tips for supercharging your asset and configuration management strategies.
