How to build an External Customer Service Desk Part 2 - Widget Configuration

In this tutorial we showcase how you can create a Jira Service Management widget for your external website so that customers can quickly create requests. The key to having this feature enabled is to set the correct customer permissions and customer access.  Once this is completed, the configuration of the widget is straight forward.  

 

1. Customer Permissions (Project Settings -> Customer Permissions)

  • Set the Channel Access to "Open" so that anyone can create requests Open Channel.png

2. Customer Access (Products -> Customer Access)

  •  External Portal: Allow portal-only accounts to be created for new customers accessing the help center

  • Ensure the Portal Access is setup as a login-free portal
