I think he means changins the name of a field like Summary or Priority.

It can be done, but requires some work.

I doubt it works on cloud. I haven't tried this on server either mind you.

What do you mean by Default Field Name? Where?

Like "Description" or "Assignee" or "Attachment"?

Why would you like to change JIRA's built-in field names? Translation purposes? To match terms in a contract?

You can create a custom field with any other name and functonality you might need...

Unless it's summary, issue type, priority, versions, component/s, priority, resolution, status, assignee, etc, which all have functions you can't do with custom fields
