Workflow steps correlation to columns

Evangelos Papanikolaou July 18, 2018

Hello,

it is mentioned that [They (*steps and columns*) may correlate one to one, or there may be multiple workflow steps associated with one column. For example, an issue with the workflow steps "draft", "review", "approve" might all appear in the "In progress" column.]

However, no further explanation is offered.

All this, in the following page  https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/how-do-i-build-the-workflow-i-want-765593066.html

Thanks!

Hello Evangelos,

A Business project only has a default (simple) board that is not configurable. The settings mentioned by Tarun are for Software projects only, where the boards are much more complex and configurable.

You can easily switch your project type from Business to Software by going to Project Settings  Project Type and selecting Software. However, you need to have a Jira software subscription, and not only Jira Core, for Software projects.

Hello @Evangelos Papanikolaou

This basically means you can map one or more workflow steps to columns on the Board as the Board columns under-the-hood use the workflow steps.

Thank you @Tarun Sapra!!

Does this hold for both "Software projects" as well as "Business projects".

I manage a "Business project" and I don't have the option to configure the Board, while I do have that option in another project which is "Software project".

Any insights?

Thanks!

To configure the board and any of its settings, you must be either:

a project administrator for the location of the board
a board administrator for the board itself

Hello,

I have both those roles.

It seems that the only differentiation between the two instances is that one is a "Business project" and the other is a "Software project".
