New issue type but do not want to see it in backlog

I created a new issue type for documentation. I now see them also in the backlog but do not want to see them there. Where can I configure the filter?

Backlogs are usually handled by JIRA Software, by the board functionality.  To hide an issue type from the backlog, you have to remove it from the board.  Go to the board configuration and edit the filter driving the board - add a clause such as "and issuetype != documentation"
