Hide issue type values for the project

Krithica Gowri Shankar August 13, 2017

Hi,

I want to hide few issue types in create as well as edit screens. These issue types are no more used. But there are many issues closed with this issue type so i dont want to migrate these issue types.

Please let me know how to hide the dropdown values of issue types.

Thanks,

Krithica

Hello Krithica,

What you ask for a common scenario. Sadly, as of now there is no way to do it out of the box in JIRA.

An answer here explains to use custom javascript for implementing this - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/JIRA-questions/Hide-select-lists-of-Project-and-Issue-Type-from-the-Create/qaq-p/241794

There might be some plugins as well available for it. But there is no clear way of implementing it.

There is an open tickedt as well for it - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-16683

My suggestion to you it to put the issues at the end of the issueType scheme. You can edit the scheme and drag the type to the end and don't make have it as default as well.

Now, if the type isn't shared by another project then you can "deprecate" it by adding "Deprecate" in the issuetype name (but this can affect the existing filters)

Or you can add a workflow validation on the "create" transition which returns "false" if the type of the issue == X (the type which you want to archive and no longer use)
