Fix directory permissions in linux

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-fix-jira-directories-permission-in-linux-829048437.html

I am looking at these instructions to fix our directory permissions because our process is being run by the root user, and it should be the JIRA user. I don't see a user or group called tomcat6, so who should own the install directory?

I think you can use jira:jira for the tomcat6 entries as well, I've been having some luck with that.

I also just set the home directory to 777 since the default admin user is locked out.
