Changing the user directory

Birgit Klinc February 2, 2021

Hi,

we would like to migrate some users from one user directory to another one. In detail:

We have 3 User directories

  1. OpenLDAP for internal people
  2. OpenLDAP for external people
  3. Jira International directory

Now we would like to migrate specific users from the directory for internal people to the directory for external people without modifying the database or using an LDAP Connector as it’s described here https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/migrating-users-between-user-directories-938847059.html

We also have one user who switched the directory (from internal to external) and we don’t know how this happened. He logged a few times in and out and we enabled/disabled the directories and suddenly he was in another user directory. So maybe there is another way to change the user directory?

Thank you!

Hi @Birgit Klinc,

It's really hard to say how this happened without knowing the configuration that you have.

  1. Does this user account exist in internal OpenLDAP and external OpenLDAP?
  2. When this user managed to log in to Jira using another user directory, how do you know this user logged in using a different account?
  3. Have you verified if the historical data of this user account still tied to the account?
