Hi Community,
I'm struggling to find how you associate story points to a user story that has been created in a Next-Gen Scrum Board.
Can somebody please assist me?
Thanks
Mike
This is on the old side, but I wanted to respond, as @Dave Theodore [Coyote Creek Consulting] response assumes classic projects, when the OP specifically requested info on next-gen projects.
There is no Estimation on the Agile Board for next-gen; the boards cannot be configured at all aside from adding columns and a bit of very basic automation.
To add the Story Points field to next-gen issue types, you don't need to do anything with the field context, nor do you need to manually add it to any screens. Go to Project Settings -> Features, then turn on the Estimation toggle. This will make Story Points visible on your issue screens.
Your story points will now be available on your issues, and will automatically show up in your active sprint board:
And in your backlog, if you've chosen to turn that feature on (in the same place you turned on Estimation, there's a toggle for Backlog.)
Is there a way to show estimates stuck in blocked column? As per above, we can see to do, in progress and done but not Blocked.

You need to make sure that the Story Points field is on the Edit screen that is used by the underlying Project(s) that the Issue(s) are in. By default, the Story Points field is only available on Epic and Story Issue Types. If you want to use Story Points on other types of Issues, you will need to adjust the Context on the Custom Field. Finally, you need to set your Estimation on the Agile Board to use Story Points in order for the Story Points field to show in the Card in your Backlog. (Got all that?) :) There are other possible reasons, as well, but that will hopefully help you get it sorted out.

Hey Dave, it's all well and good to associate points with your story but it's less helpful if we don't have a good way of showing off those totals to the dev team or Product Owner. Do you have a favorite gadget or reporting tool that you use to output story point totals for a given board, either as totals or as groups?
