User getting Jira notifications despite not being setup

I know by my summary it's tough to understand, but i'm facing an issue with a newly created workflow that of one of the transitions where i have an email sent to a particular user as a reminder, the email to that person does go through, but it also emails someone else that is not a part of the transition. I'm trying to figure out where else i could look that this person might be receiving notifications on tickets related to a particular keyword perhaps. I just can't seem to find where this is happening. Appreciate the help!

I think i might have found someone else who has had the exact same problem in the past as me. Check out this Jira support ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-45283

That describes the exact same issue, but i don't seem to find a fix/resolution for it. What would happen if i get rid of that "Fire a Generic Event event that can be processed by the listeners" Post function for this affected transition?

Hi @Matthew Knab

Please check the Notification Scheme associated with your project.

Go through each Event and check if the other person that is also receiving notifications is part of the added recipients for that specific event:

  • Current Assignee
  • Reporter
  • Current User
  • Project Lead
  • Component Lead
  • Single User
  • Group
  • Project Role
  • Single Email Address
  • All Wachters
  • User Custom Field Value
  • Group Custom Field Value

Thanks for your response Dave! I checked the notification scheme for that Project, and do not see the user in question unfortunately. All of the standards are there that we have had setup for years, nothing is really standing out to me for this wrong user. Can you think of any other spots to look? Thanks for your time
