I just install the Insight Plugin but when trying to configure it, I always end up back at the dashboard.
Checked the log and it says :

So question is, is there a way to have Insight Asset management with a Jira Software / Jira Core 8.18.0 ?
From my understanding it will only work with Data Center version of Jira Software 8.14 and Jira Service Management 4.14 ??
Thanks for enlighting me!
I was a little worried about your question.
We are currently using Insight 8.x with Jira 8.13.11/JSD 4.13.11 (server) and I was concerned that I would be locked down to this version until we upgrade to DC.
But I was able to upgrade a staging environment to Jira 8.20.0/JSM 4.20.0 without issues. It showed that I was upgraded to insight 9.1.2 when I upgraded JSM.
And it does seem that there is a place to apply my Insight License to the Insight plugin (upgraded when I upgraded JSM).
But looking at the marketplace, I see only Insight version up to 8.9.3.
So perhaps, with a Jira SW/Core only installation, you are capped at 8.x ?
So I ran the test... I uninstalled JSM from that environment. This removed Insight.
And while I can't find insight in the UPM, to re-install, I can use the "Upload app" to re-install 8.9.3 from the https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212137/insight-asset-management/version-history page. This might have broken my app because the db tables had already been upgraded to 9.1.2. But the app UI appeared to work as expected.
Then I removed my license, uninstalled the standalone app and re-installed JSM and re-applied my JSM license. This did not give me access to Insight. Insight was listed as installed but unlicensed.
So in conclusion, I think that if you purchased an Insight standalone license before Feb 2021, it should be possible to keep renewing and using it until Feb 2023.
If you haven't bought a standalone Insight license before, then the only way to get Insight is to get JSM DC. Only getting JSM Server is not enough.
