Specific Custom field edit permissions in all statuses

Hi All,

Does anyone have idea how to give edit specific custom field permissions irrespective of status. Scenario is: User want to edit one custom field on view screen.

User wants to change for all the projects wherever it appears. There are about 30 projects with different schema and permissions sharing this custom field.

your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

AK

Make sure the field is on the "edit" screen for the issues.  This will enable the in-line edit on the view screen as well.

Hi Nic,

This field is on edit screen. As Jira Admin, I can edit this field. But user is unable to edit.

Thanks

Then either

  • The user does not have "edit issue" permission
  • You have installed a plugin that is making the field non-editable to the user and you need to configure it to allow them

1.Users have edit permissions

2. How to know which plug-in is making field non-editable?

There is no way to answer that, we don't know what apps you have installed, or what you have configured to disable the editing.  I would try restarting Jira in "safe" mode, so that I could be sure no apps are doing it - at least this would rule them out.

I created one test project with shared configuration to check this one.

I noticed, User was able to edit custom field in my test project. But he was not able to edit on original project.

Hello Anil.

Just to clarify the request a bit. Are you looking to update the field on 1 screen, and then have it populate out to all the other projects? Or is it that you want a user to be able to only update this one field, through all the projects but not be able to edit anything else?

Thanks.

Hi Nich,

We have one custom_field(CLT). User wants to edit this field directly from view screen.
