Whenever we create a new ticket in Jira the ticket numbers are not in order. The ticket id jumped from DEVO-4 to DEVO-22 and similarly from 189 to 291. This is happening only for our DevOps project.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this?

This sounds correct Nic. How can I change them back?
Go to Admin -> Status and edit the list.
Note that status are shared, so when you change the label on status X, it affects all the workflows that use the status.

The default workflow cannot be changed. But the names on the status it uses can be changed.
It sounds like you've edited some status names, if I've understood the question correctly (If I haven't, could you explain further please?)
