  2. The second error that we received was "The directory you have selected is not a JIRA Core installation directory”

we followed the steps provided in the Plan Your Upgrade page.

  1. Schedule downtime.
  2. Check app compatibility with the Jira update check.
  3. Back up your data.
  4. Download Jira.
    1. For the installer method, choose the installer.
  5. Start the installation wizard, or extract the archive and start the upgrade.
  6. Reapply custom modifications to the following file(s). Edit the new file, rather than copying the old file, as the default configuration may have changed between versions.
    • jira-application.properties

You can use a plugin to provide "create issue on transition" type functions. I'd look at using the script runner plugin for this.

Have you tried searching the marketplace for "create on transition"?

As I already said, you could use the script runner plugin.

I'm not aware of any that ask you for details though - they all assume you're going to put the logic in the transition. I'd put the project and issue type as fields in the transition screen though, then clear them as part of the script (so they don't get written to the original issue every time)

Start by installing it from the marketplace. Then read the documentation for it - there are loads of examples in there.
