Jira 7 Setup All User Directories are read only

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

I just performed a clean install of JIRA Software 7 but im stuck in first access setup with the following error:

Setup admin account: Cannot create user, all the user directories are read-only

 

Help!

It's not possible AFAIK. If you have permission to view the issue it's attached to, you can view the attachment.

You could create a sub-task and attach the file to that, then use issue security schemes to control access to the sub-task.

Don't sub-tasks have the same security level as the parent task?

Good comment... yeah, it wouldn't make much sense if they didn't ;-)

I don't think there's any straightforward option then... shove it in sharepoint.

Well, you can alwasy create a separate "private" (in terms of security level) issue, attach files there and link it to the original issue. Cumbersome, but works in practice.

You can try our add-on Smart Attachments that provides you with a capability to define access restrictions for specific categories. In such a way you can regulate visibility of attachments stored in the specific category for users, user group or project roles.
