I want to add a custom field in the "base swimlanes on" dropdown. How to do it?

I have multiple project. In some projects there are multiple applications. Since every project has different application hence i have custom fields based on application. I want to Add custom field for application in the base swimlanes on.

In another project, i have swimlanes based on labels. As soon as some new label is introduced that falls in "Everything Else" swimlanes. For that project i want to add "labels" in the "base swimlanes on" dropdown.

Please help.

ok; it looks like this is a well known/understood feature shortfall. hopefully, this feature will be implemented soon.

As for your question, OnDemand comes with pre-configured mail servers and they can not be modified: restricted functions

I'm guessing this is for creating issues/comments from e-mail? If so, you may want to keep an eye on this page, we are actively working to add this functionality and the bug report will likely be updated with good news shortly.

Thanks. What about notifications when issues are created/updated (via the web interface)? Does that work with corporate gmail and jira on demand? How does one configure that?

No, OnDemand has its own built-in SMTP mail server to handle sending out notifications.
