How can I get incremental burn-down to show-up using sub-tasks and user stories?

Our team creates User Stories and sub-tasks assoiciated with that User Story.  We assign the US 5 points and then create sub-tasks.  I want my burndown to reflect the incremental burn-down of the US based on progress and completion of the sub-tasks.  For example, US = 5 pts.  that has 5 sub-tasks.  Should I point each sub-task?  Will that show the incremental brun-down?  Really looking for the "reccomended" way.

The way I see this is that the stories are not broken down enough.  Sub-tasks should be supporting work not the main focus.
