Does Jira Core allow searching text within an attachment?

I know you can search to see if issues have attachments, but I'm looking to search for text WITHIN an attachment. If it can search within an attachment, what document formats are supported (pdf, docx, etc). I tried a test with a PDF document and it didn't work.

Hi Carolyn,

out fo the box, no jira does not allow for search in actual content of attachments.

There was a Community thread about this quite a while back:

and they mentioned this add-on: Search Attachments (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211135/search-attachments?hosting=server&tab=overview) -> however this is only avialble for server, and not for cloud, so I am not sure if this could actually help you.
