Assignee does not display in backlog

TracieMukai May 6, 2022

Hi. I'm using an Agile board. In the backlog, the assignee used to display as either their picture or a circle with their initials next to the issue number. It now displays with a broken image for almost all of my issues. If I open the issue, the names display properly.

How do I fix this? missing name.png

Thanks in advance!

Hello @TracieMukai ,

Could you please ask the user to visit https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility to verify if the user's profile picture visibility to _Anyone_ to make it appear on the board?

You can refer to this document for more details: [User Avatars are suddenly missing|https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloudkb/user-avatars-are-suddenly-missing-969533903.html].

Hi @Sugandha Singh , thank you for your response. Based on that 2nd link, it seems Atlassian may have changed this setting with your recent rollouts and it's rather inconvenient. Is there a way for me, as the admin, to make a bulk change to everyone's profile picture visibility instead of bothering 100 people to do this task?

Hello @TracieMukai , This is caused due to recent GDPR changes from our end which cannot be reverted. To provide you some more context, we have provided users the ability to control the visibility to their personal information inline with GDPR requirements. The feature allows individual users to protect their information.

The visibility settings determine which information from your profile appears to other users, not whether other users can see your profile. They’ll still see a profile, but it will only show the profile information you choose to share.

Going forward, if you require to see the email address of unmanaged users, suggest all the users check if their avatar's in the [Profile and visibility|https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility] section is set as anyone so that the user's avatar's appears when you try to search for the user.

More details can be found here: [Update your profile and visibility settings|https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/update-your-profile-and-visibility-settings-968656104.html]

- There is a following Feature Requests requests to give Organization Admins more control over their Managed Users' Visibility settings:

@Sugandha Singh I checked a couple of profiles and they're set to public, so I believe the profile settings were not globally changed for my team. Was a change made where if the user does not have a picture uploaded to their profile, it now shows that broken image? Before it would at least show their initials and that is what I really need to see again. Thanks.

@Sugandha Singh do you or anyone else at Atlassian have any other solutions to this?

Hello @TracieMukai  I tested this by removing my profile pic from https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility and can confirm without any pic uploaded, it should show the Initials. withoutProfilePic.png

Following your inputs, could you please confirm the following:

- Are you facing this issue for all the users in your company who doesn't have ant profile picture updated at https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility

- Could you please request any of the impacted user to share the screenshot from https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/profile-and-visibility as attached below: Screenshot 2022-05-12 at 5.39.02 PM.png

@Sugandha Singh Here's an example. Norman's initials are in the profile picture and it' set to "anyone" for visibility, but he is not able to change this. It's a read only field? I am able to change my personal profile visibility options. I'm an admin so not sure if that makes a difference? Norman is just a user.Norman.png

Here you can see that a story is assigned to Norman. On his computer, he can see his initials. Norman epic.png

When I look on my computer (and I am the admin), I don't see his initials on the story:
