My organization has a need to pull the comments report for specific Jira projects, however due to security reasons we do not want to bring in the comment body as it could possibly contain PII.
Does anyone know how we could write an API call for Comments, but exclude the comment body?
Hi @Katherine Nash,
I'm not sure how you are pulling the data using the API - is it a script or an external application or etc.
However, if it's a script or a code, then what you can do is to parse the return result of the API in JSON format and remove the body data from the result before storing the data into an Excel file/any format that you are using.
Jira REST API allows us to expand certain additional information for the REST API, but not limit the data that is being returned - that means it's up to us on how to want to process the return result.
I hope that this helps.
Thanks,
Moga
