In 2024, we launched Confluence Whiteboards, a dynamic and interactive tool that has quickly become a favorite among our users. These native whiteboards in Confluence ensure that your team's collaborative efforts extend beyond just the board, seamlessly integrating into daily operations to boost productivity and innovation. With tight integration across Confluence and the broader Atlassian suite, users can effortlessly transition from brainstorming sessions to actionable tasks, all within a single tool, effectively bridging the gaps between ideation, planning, and execution.
We even took Whiteboards to the next level by coupling its powers with AI to take your brainstorming sessions to the next level with improved ease and efficiency. AI can help you get the creative juices flowing to generate new ideas, pulling from contextual information in Confluence and Jira, and, you can even use AI to help you organize your sticky notes with just a single click into groups and themes!
Finally, you can summarize a whiteboard with AI, then add it to a Confluence page, so the work is documented.
Databases
Confluence Databases are a groundbreaking new capability allowing anyone to centralize, sync, and extend their company’s knowledge. Databases let users get out of static tables and disconnected spreadsheets by offering a lightweight way to structure information and create custom views that go beyond just rows and columns. From content libraries to design archives, databases in Confluence have quickly become the new secret weapon for connecting teams to knowledge.

Loom videos in Confluence
Another groundbreaking update of 2024 is the ability to easily record and embed Loom videos to Confluence, making it a breeze to share ideas and updates with your team. Another fantastic 2024 addition to Confluence was the ability to add smart links directly into the content tree. This lets you bring your work from various tools and applications into Confluence and organize it just the way you want for you and your team. Imagine having Loom recordings, PowerPoint presentations, and Figma designs all neatly organized and easily accessible within Confluence—no more app-hopping or losing track of files!

Figma Integration
We released a new integration with Figma that brings Figma designs and Confluence documentation together. With it, you can embed Confluence content into Figma files for easy access and side-by-side views of your documents and designs while you work, without needing to switch between tools.
With Confluence project documentation more closely connected to design work, teams can ensure their designs stay aligned with project goals, strategies, and key decisions – even as things change.
Jira Integration updates
It’s been a banner year for new Jira and Confluence integrations – from new and improved Smart Link embed support types (hello, Jira release embeds!), to creating whiteboards directly within Jira, to a new, modern and speedy workflow to create Jira work items in Confluence, 2024 was packed with enhancements.

Automation updates
It’s been an exciting year for Confluence Automation, with several updates to help teams save time, reduce errors, and manage content at scale by automating manual tasks. First, automation is now available to all Confluence Cloud customers, from Free to Enterprise editions at varying monthly limits. In addition, with smart buttons, end users are now able to create their own automation rules from a pre-defined list and run the automation with the click of a button on a page.
Last but not least, customers can work smarter with AI-powered automation, using Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo Agents with automation to build rules for you, email AI-generated summaries, and more.

New admin features: Mission Control & Content Manager
We know it’s not easy being an admin, so that’s why we’ve been giving plenty of love to admins this year! With mission control, admins now have a dedicated admin workspace manage their site and spaces, get actionable insights, and more – all in one place. We also launched the content manager, helping admins effectively oversee and manage various types of content and do bulk actions to keep spaces up-to-date.
