This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Create, edit, or remove a user

I don't manage to deactivate a user. After selecting "User Management" and "clicking Edit", when I try to clear the active checkbox, I get an error message "Invalid full name specified". Any idea ?

Actually the Activate checkbox is not there because LDAP directory is used. See problem https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/unable-to-deactivate-users-using-deactivate-feature-in-jira-295309946.html

Workaround :

  • Use JIRA internal directory instead of LDAP server when creating users
  • If LDAP server is used, remove the user to be deactivated from the lira-users group (this will prevent from loggin and will not be in the licence count)
  • Select "User Activity", then click on "Deactivate" in the column operations
