I entered several stories in a certain epic through the timeline window, why don't I see the tasks in the board window as well?

Hi @Tzachi Gujski and welcome to the Community!

There can be several different explanations, to be honest. I'm happy to list a few, but a bit more information might be helpful for better judgment:

  • Is your board in a team-managed or company-managed project?
  • Is your board a scrum or a kanban board? If it is a kanban board, does it have a backlog?
  • When you talk about the board window, do you mean the active sprint (for a scrum board) or the kanban board view? If so, my previous question becomes relevant. It is possible that your tasks are in the backlog section of your board and not on the actual board view yet.
  • If your board is in a company managed project, check your board settings and make sure that all statuses from your task's workflow are associated with board columns. When a task is in a status that is not linked to a board column, that will make it hidden from the board.
  • While you're in the board settings, also check the board filter on the General tab of your board settings. Make sure that this filter is not excluding your tasks.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Tzachi Gujski

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Adding to the suggestions and questions already provided by @Walter Buggenhout , I have a few questions.

I see from your post tags that you are using a Premium subscription. Is that accurate?

Have you entered the new issues in the Timeline displayed for a Plan (selected from the Plans menu)?

If so, in that view do you see full issue keys next to those new issues, or just project keys? Issue keys are comprised of a project key and a number.

In the above image the Initiative has an issue key (TCSC-16) while the new epic has only the project key (TCSC).

Issues that don't have a full issue key have not yet been saved to the referenced project and would not display in search results or in boards.

When you add issues to a Plan Timeline they do not automatically save to the related projects. This allows you to make experimental changes to the Plan without updating the underlying issues. If you have added new issues to the plan you need to also review Unsaved Changes and commit those changes to the Project.

Click the Unsaved changes button in the upper right corner.

Check the box next to changes (i.e. new issues) that you want to save to your project, and click the Save changes button.
