Hello!
In Jira Cloud I don't see the option to write comments in text mode, which is the one I always use, because it is much more practical for me. I only see the WYSIGYG form. Is there a way to activate the text mode?
One way that I have been using regularly is to write texts in Markdown format and then use pandoc (free format conversion tool) to convert it to Jira codes, and paste those contents in text format. But now I can't use that, because I can't find the option to edit in text mode.
Hi Oscar, I could be wrong, but now the new text editor is out of beta for cloud users, and there isn't a way to get text only.
There may be a third party tool, but I'm not aware of any.
Hello, Dan.
I'm not looking for a text-only editor option. In the previous version of Jira that we used so far, the editor had one button for editing in visual mode and another for editing text mode, where you could handwrite markup, such as
{code:java}
int variable=4;
{code}.
Now I don't see that button in the editor, so I can't use the Jira syntax I was using until now (similar to Markdown)

I'm also missing being able to switch between text and visual (WYSYWIG) mode.
For many users, it's more efficient to type comments or ticket description as text, so it's disappointing that it's apparently no longer possible in JIRA cloud. I don't mind if text would used the JIRA markups (e.g. {noformat}, !foo.png|thumnbnail! , etc ) or Markdown.
PS: I only recently switched to JIRA cloud, so I hope I'm missing something here and that editing ticket descriptions or comments as text is somehow still possible and I simply overlooked it how to switch between visual and text.

Hi @Oscar Fernández Sierra You are right, there is no text only editor available in Jira cloud (at this time). However, there is a suggestion open gathering interest in Jcloud backlog you can vote and watch >> [JRACLOUD-72631] Provide users with a plain text markdown editor - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.
Hope this helps!
