How do I swap from Jira Service Management to Jira Software interface

Niklas Lerchenmüller January 23, 2024

Hello,

I have the following Problem. If I wanna log into Jira Software, I automatically get thrown into the service management interface. How do I fix this issue? It even tells me, that I dont have permission to create a Kanban project. On the other hand as seen below it shows me that Jira software is active. I hope the pictures below help a little bit to understand the Problem.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This is just a case of going into a project that is JSW rather than JSM.

Jira's default landing page is your personal dashboard if you have one, or the system dashboard.  If you're always landing in a JSM project, then you're using a URL pointed to that project, you probably want to change that bookmark.

You say that it tells you that you do not have the right to create a Kanban project - that suggests you are not an admin.

Thanks for the fast replay. I see your point but even if I press the button Go to Jira software like shown above or below, I get the JSM interface. Our Jira is empty atm cause we just started using it. I'm sorry, maybe I just dont get your point in the replay.

I am suspicious that you do not have permissions to the Jira Software Product.

Hello @Niklas Lerchenmüller ! Welcome to the Atlassian community!

The way I see it, Jira Software and Jira Service Management use the same interface when you log in until you select your project.  Once you select a JSM project, then all the JSM elements you want (e.g. queues, SLAs) then appear.

Thanks for the fast replay. The problem is, that I dont want to work with the JSM. I cant open a Project and use the Kanban feature. Is it just a mistake by the admin or am I totally wrong? (fyi: I just want to use the Kanban view to structre and organize Projects with a team thats all)

There is no "JSM interface".  What you see when you go into a project is whatever the project type is.

Your screenshot is of the selection screen, asking you what type of project you want to create, it's not even a project view (yet)

If you want to use a Kanban board, then create a Kanban board (or to get one automatically as part of a new project, select a Software Kanban project)
