Hello,
I am facing an issue wherein I have started my sprint with some user stories and have added test case under the user story using XRAY tool as this helps me track the requirement coverage. Now, the problem I am facing is that although the test cases were added for the user stories and they are linked properly, these test cases are appearing under the backlog instead of active sprint where the parent user story is present.
If I send these test cases to active sprint, I get a pop-up that this will impact the scope of current sprint.
Is there any possibility that test cases added will directly appear under the active sprint instead of backlog or If I send test cases from backlog to active sprint will it impact the scope dashboards. These dashboards would be viewed by higher management hence don't want to screw it up.
This is also an issue for us. We know we can manually set the sprint of test executions. But for us it makes no sense that this is not automatic. Surely a test being executed during a sprint is part of the sprint.
This creates the problem that inevitably some test executions get forgotten. Every few sprints we find a load of them in the backlog. By that time the sprints in question have been closed so we can't manually put them where they are supposed to be.
It just seems that not automatically putting them in the current sprint is a big oversight.
Hi @Sreeraj C
How are you adding your test cases under a story? If you want to see your test cases within a sprint then you need to add them to a sprint directly or use the Sprint field. All issues under a sprint like stories, tests, bugs contributes to the scope of the sprint.
You can obviously link test cases and stories as well for your reporting but if you do testing as part of your sprint then make sure they are part of the sprint as well.
I hope it helps.
Ravi

Thanks for your reply. We have integrated Xray for JIRA to track our test management and requirement status. So, under every user story we get a field like this 'Add Test'.
With this when a test case is created it's directly linked with the user story and we can see the requirement coverage of the user story as in number of test cases 'OK', 'NOK' status etc.
My confusion is regards to the presence of these test cases created present in backlog. If they are linked under the user story, why don't they appear in active sprint where the user story is present.
I tried to find any sprint field when creating the test case to directly link it to active sprint but could not find any.
As you mentioned if I send the test case to sprint then the scope of current sprint changes.
Need to know why test case even though linked is not present in the active sprint and always goes to backlog
