As we evolve the public status page for our company, we are setting up a back-office to manage what components appear. For that we have a very basic Dev -> Test -> Prod setup, and we are wanting (trying) to orchestrate stuff via API.
So far we have been able to create components, change status, etc. but one thing is missing: ability to reorder. In particular, in an upcoming change to our status page, we will have to run orchestration to deploy almost everything... but someone will have to go the UI to change the order.
I have read other questions about this, but no straight answer. The API does not accept "position" as a parameter for update, even though it provides it in the gets.
Is there a plan to provide that ability? If so, can someone point me to the place where that is submitted?
Thanks
Hey Acácio,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Thank you for bringing this up! I’ve created an internal feature request to address your need for reordering components via the API: STATUS-919. This enhancement would allow updating the position
parameter programmatically and help streamline your automation workflows.
While feature requests are tracked internally and not publicly visible, I can assure you that your input has been shared with our product team for review. Atlassian evaluates feature requests based on user impact and alignment with our product goals during planning cycles.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve Statuspage for all users. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist you with!
Best Regards,
Egor
Hi Egor,
I am also very interested in this enhancement : being able to reorder groups/components at root level and reorder components within a group
Although there is no tracking on this feature STATUS-919 how can I help prioritizing it ?
Thanks

Hi
Any update on this? https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/STATUS-919
10 months!
This query has been raised 3 years back with almost similar response by "Jesse"
Literally, the response is a drag!
Hello Joey,
This is Jesse from the Statuspage support team. Thanks for reaching out about wanting to change the position via the API. It appears that this is something that we don't have available through the API. There was a feature request created for this. I have added this post to that request to show more interest for it. Unfortunately, the only way we have is through the dragging method.
I think what some people have done when setting up their page is to get the components into the order you're looking for up front when creating them and then if new ones come in later, it's an easier time getting them organized. I totally understand that isn't ideal but that's the only thing I have seen as a workaround. My apologies that this isn't a full feature at this time.
Regards,
Jesse
