We are going through a company rebrand and I currently have a status page that uses the statuspage.io subdomain like oldbrand.statuspage.io.
I don't want to simply change the subdomain URL because most users have this site bookmarked and it won't automatically forward to the new URL.
So I'm curious if I setup a custom domain like: status.newbrand.com or newbrandstatus.com if the old page (oldbrand.statuspage.io) will still be accessible? That would allow me to market my custom domain under the new brand, but maintain my existing users workflow.
Hey @Michael Morrison ,
Thanks for reaching out to community. The default URL will still work! However, if you use any custom HTML/CSS on the page, it will only display when accessing the custom domain and not the default statuspage.io domain.
Best,

Hi @Abraham Musalem, is there a way to set a 'hard' redirect on the the default statuspage.io domain to always redirect to the custom domain?
I ask because we have spent time customizing our Status Page with custom CSS and HTML. However, some people still seem to be using our default statuspage.io domain, and like you said, that default domain does not render custom CSS and HTML. We'd like to force everyone to use our custom domain so that they will always experience our custom CSS and HTML.

Hello @Sam
Regrettably, it is not feasible to establish a redirect on the default statuspage.io domain. You may issue a formal notification to all subscribers via an incident or utilise another medium to exclusively direct them to the newly configured custom domain.
The primary domain with statuspage.io will always remain active, even when there are issues with DNS or other reasons related to the custom domain you have configured.

Hi @Mubeen Mohammed,
Thank you for the information. If we can't redirect the default domain to our custom domain, then is there any way to attempt to match the styling of the default domain page to the custom domain with custom CSS/HTML?
