Cross-Organization OpsGenie Alert Escalation

Guilherme Steinmüller
May 13, 2026

Context:

We are
a DevOps team operating as an extension/MSP for a client organization. Both us and the client company have separate, independent OpsGenie instances, each with their own on-call schedules, escalation policies, and team configurations already in place and functioning.

Is there a way for our team to be paged when P0/P1 alerts are created on the client organization side?

Hi Guilherme,

Thank you for reaching out on Atlassian Community.

Yes, this is absolutely supported — the OpsGenie-to-OpsGenie integration is designed exactly for this kind of cross-instance alerting scenario.

You can set it up so that when a P1/P2 alert is created on the client's OpsGenie instance, it automatically triggers an alert on your team's instance, routing it through your own on-call schedules and escalation policies.

Here's the guide to get started: Integrate Opsgenie with another Opsgenie | Opsgenie | Atlassian Support

In a nutshell:

  1. On your instance — add an "OpsGenie" integration under your team and grab the API URL.

  2. On the client's instance — add an "OpsGenie" integration and point it to your API URL.

  3. On the client side — use alert filters or notification policies to scope it down to only P1/P2 alerts, so your team isn't paged for lower-priority noise.

Both sides will need to configure their respective integrations, so a bit of coordination with the client's OpsGenie admin is needed.

Regards,
Aditya

Hi,

The screenshot from the document seems old. Follow the Steps to configure the integration section from the integration.

Aditya
