Hey all,
Earlier this week I had a "Getting Started with Jira" session over in the Public Classes (go check it out in Learning!).
Got a lot of great questions - sharing them, and the answers, below. If you've got questions, drop them in the comments and we'll take a crack at answering them.
Answer: Kanban focuses on continuous flow, throughput, and limiting work-in-progress (WIP) without fixed timeframes, making it popular for support and ongoing task management. Scrum is structured around fixed-length timeboxes called "sprints" (typically 1–4 weeks) where a team commits to completing a specific backlog of work.
Answer: Navigate to a space from the sidebar or main spaces list, where the board icon (resembling three vertical columns) will appear. Alternatively, click the main Search bar at the top and select the Boards filter option to view and access all available boards. Note that Service Management spaces DO NOT have boards.
Answer: Out of the box, standard Jira Cloud does not automatically draft comments upon ticket status changes. However, Atlassian Rovo, or specific Jira Service Management features can generate summarized drafts or updates upon prompt request.
Answer: Yes. Atlassian Learning offers free preparation courses, learning paths, and practice materials for certifications (e.g., Jira Essentials, Rovo, and Jira Service Management).
Answer: Building plans based on saved filters provides greater flexibility across multiple spaces. For structured guidance, Atlassian Learning offers dedicated Jira Plans learning paths and live training sessions.
