The Priority field is available while creating a Bug issue, but immediately after the issue is created, the Priority field disappears from the issue Details panel, making it impossible to edit the priority.

Hi @Kamal

Have you admin check the screens used for work type Bug, Is there a different screen for edit/view and check if the field Priority is on this screen?

Or check the "More fields" section on the Work Item, fields not filled will appear there.

Or check the Issue Layout in the space settings.

Hi @Kamal

As @Marc -Devoteam- suggested. Check if you have different screens for Create/Edit/View.

You need to be an Jira admin to be able to check/change this

  1. Go to Jira admin (cog wheel in upper right corner)
  2. Go to Work Items
  3. Go to Screen schemes and identify the screen scheme used for your space
  4. Identify
  5. Check if you have different screen schemas for the operations Create/Edit/View
  6. Verify that the scheme related to View has the the field Priority added to the screen.
  7. Be aware that you can have multiple fields called Priority and that the correct one is added to the screen.

I hope this helps,

/Staffan

Hi @Kamal,

I have run into similar issues as well, here is my solution (for Company Managed Spaces):
Every Work Type has three Screens: Create Screen, Edit Screen & View Screen. The Field you want to edit needs to be present in all affected Screens. You probably need to to add the Priority Field to either the Edit or View Screen.
You need to have access Jira Admin Settings to configure this. If you know the Screen which you need to change you can go to the Jira Admin Settings > Work Items > Screens.
If you don't you can also access via the Space Settings > Work Items > Screens and the use the small arrow at the Work Type to open a Dropdown where the Screens affecting the Work Items will be listed.

Best Regards,
Markus

@Markus   Thanks for our reply

I shard the space settings screenshot earlier , there is no such options work items > Screens
It have Space Setting > Work Type > Bug ..where i already selected priority in context fields

Still i will try to get complete admin rights and will explore this option

@Kamal
I've just checked your Screenshots. You are working in a Team-Managed Space. That's why you are not finding the options. The Option Work Items > Screens only exist in Company Managed Spaces.
For Team-Managed Spaces it seems like most of the Fields are hidden by Default when empty. You should check the Details on the right hand side. There you'll probably find the Field you are looking for:
2026-07-30 16_44_06-Board - DG board - Jira — Mozilla Firefox.png
Or if you want it more prominent then go to the Work Type Settings and move the Field from 'Context Fields' into the 'Description Fields':2026-07-30 16_47_00-Configure work item - DevOps (Global) - Work types - Jira — Mozilla Firefox.png

   @Markus I already tried that earlier but it doesn't work, sharing you the screenshot, Background exiting bug, and pop-up of new bug, the new posting have the priority but you can see the background the details section is not having priority in details section it have only

Details>> Assignee, Parent, Labels, Start date, Sprint, Reporter
