did you try to put only the ID of your EPIC in the field epic link ? Even if JIRA tells you it does not exist apply (create or modify) and it should work

Yes. Did you click on create or modify even you have this error? Just try it and tell me back
Click on modify button in the issue screen, put the ID in the epic link field then apply by clicking the button in the bottom of the pop-up
