Did you mean:

why an administrator of jira project unable to modify components?

Bhavesh Kumar June 26, 2023

Like I am unable to add "Team" Fields under Epics/Sub-Task/Task from Components screen even I am administrator of jira project.

I can see page is showing Read-Only written on top but should not administror of jira project given by-default edit option.

Was wondering whom to give a shout here ?

Hello @Bhavesh Kumar

Can you provide a screen image of the screen you are viewing where you are "unable to add 'Team' Fields' "?

The Components screen is for adding values that can be selected in the Components field. That screen is not where you add more fields to the screens for your issues.

The fact that you mentioned the Components screen tells me that you are working with a Company Managed project. Please confirm that be telling us what is displayed at the bottom of the panel on the left when you are viewing the project.

I will wait for you screen image for confirmation that I have correctly understood what screen you are viewing, and for confirmation about the type or your project.

In that case my original reply applies.

Only a Jira Administrator can create new custom fields that can be used by Company Managed projects. Only Jira Admins can add those fields to the field configurations and screen schemes used by Company Managed projects.

For a Project Admin to have those  options requires the use of a Team Managed project instead.
