when setting up jira core, I cannot login to create evaluation license.

I downloaded and installed jira core server. However, when I tried to request the evaluation license, it prompts me to login to my jira account but the login fails after I enter my userid and password. I can login to my jira account directly but not through the server setup process. Please suggest what to do as I need to setup jira server evaluation license on my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

@Hassan Arif

Try generating a New Evaluation license from your Atlassian account and paste in the license region while installing the Software. That should work and you can complete the setup process.

But I have already completed the installation. Do I need to repeat the installation?

If you have already installed then head to Settings --> Applications --> Versions & licenses there find the jira core in license key paste the license that you have generated there.

@Vishwas Sorry, I'm not getting it. Jira runs on the browser url: localhost:8080/secure/Dashboard.jspa. When this url is launched, it prompts for useid/password. Entering my Jira account userid/password fails, so cannot proceed further. How do I complete the login process after launching Jira on the browser.

@Hassan Arif

Can you tell me which userid/password you are using - Is it the one you gave while setting up admin account or Atlassian account details ?

I did not setup admin account. I just downloaded the Jira server and installed it on my laptop. I only have the regular Jira account. My login id is: hassankarif@gamil.com

My goal is:

1. Install Jira Core evaluation version and set it up on my laptop

2. Create a project -> users, Epic, issues, etc

3. download and install evaluation add-on test management applications from Marketplace, such as Xray or Qmetry and create test cases, test execution reports, etc

@Hassan Arif

That's where the problem is you should have setup the admin account in installation process. Try reinstalling the application and setup admin account, after installation is completed use those credentials while logging to the application.

Pls follow this documentation https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracoreserver/setting-up-your-instance-938846189.html

I uninstalled Jira Core and downloaded it again. following the steps in the document, I started installation and selected the default Express configuration. During installation, there is no were to setup admin account. Jira completes the installation. Clicked the "Next "button and it finished the configuration. Then it informs me that Jira is ready to run in my default browser. I click "Finish" button and the browser window displays Login screen as shown below.

I understand that Admin account needs to be created somehow, but how do I create the Admin Account?

Hello @Hassan Arif

Every Atlassian Application installation comes with a Admin account set up process. I wonder how that step is missing out for you. Please recheck on the installation procedure and try again, because without admin account creation there is no way you can login to the application.

Deleting the dbconfig.xml file from the Jira Home directory and re-executing the Jira Core installation solved the issue of establishing the local Jira admin account.
