Hello,
We are in jira 7.1 today and we would like to know if there is an update deadline.
For example if we do not update our jira over 2 years for example, would we be blocked later? will tickets always be migrable on the most recent jira versions?
Thank you in advance.

No, you can always upgrade, and all your data will be preserved, although some of it will change shape to accomodate new features.

Make sure you read the release notes for each mid-level version (so 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 etc) to see what will change and follow the upgrade path as recommended by Atlassian (personally, from 7.1, I would go to 7.13, then 8.5 as 8.5 is the Enterprise release)

But there is no deadline - you can use 7.1 as long as you want.  It's not supported any more, so you can't get any help with it (in theory.  In practice, Atlassian will still try to help), but that's the only deadline that applies.
