Krishna.Bhatt August 31, 2018

Hey, I have jira installed in linux server i.e 7.4 and now i need to upgrade it into 7.11 .So ,I need to ask you that if I upgrade the jira then my data will be lost ?

Once jira upgrade may i need to again configure it with database as well or it automatically configure.

Please suggest me suitable steps for the same

Thanks

Hi Krishna,

The custom fields, issues, projects, etc. are stored in the database and the attachments and avatars are stored on your server's local filesystem. Neither will be lost when you upgrade, but we do recommend that you back both the local filesystem and database up prior to an upgrade.

The database connection information is stored in the dbconfig.xml file in Jira's home directory. You shouldn't need to make changes to this file (or the database connection details) during an upgrade only.

Please check out our upgrade guide here! It will walk you through the steps necessary to prepare for and complete an upgrade.

Cheers,
Daniel
