update the field without sending emails to others

Hi,

According to the requirement, we need to add a new field in JIRA. Now we want to update this field without sending emails to the relevant persons and other fields are not affected as normal circumstances.

Do we need some kinds of operation about notification or other methods?

Yes, you do. You can use bulk edit (there's a "don't send email for this update" flag when you're selecting which fields to edit) too which is great for one-off updates. But if it's a permanent "we never want to send email when this changes" function, you'll need to add an operation that doesn't fire an event, or use a workflow transition that fires an event that you don't send email for.

I have also considered bulk change, but I hope to find a way to make for a field, I can trigger event in the case without sending an E-mail.
