uninstalling an addon leaves traces (a button) in Jira - seems not fully uninstalled

AnToine van Maarle February 9, 2023

Hi,

We installed an addon (Copy Issue Link) which worked ok but after uninstalling the addon, the button (Copy Issue Link: to copy the issue link and description) is still there.

If I install the plugin/addon again, two buttons appear. But in the management console I can only see (and uninstall) only one.

Is there something like a cleanup function in Jira?

==== THE PROBLEM IN DETAIL ====

Here’s the button which shows (even after deleting addon)

But nowhere to find…

And if I install the addon again:

I get two buttons

and if I uninstall the addon again, back to one button

I can't get rid of that button (and that button doesn't work either)

After contacting Atlassian support the problem was finaly solved, they wrote me the following explanation:

When an app installs, the pieces of the installation are done in different internal "systems".
When uninstalling the app, it is expected that all the pieces are removed from all these places.
There are scenarios, like yours when a piece of the app did not install, we can call it a "remanent app context".

For your case in specific, our dev teams searched for those missing pieces, found them, and ran an uninstall script to remove them. So, there's not much that you can do from your end to fix this if it happens again :/
