Hello @KEITH WILLIAMS

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

How did you determine that you have an allowance of 40k automation executions? Can you provide a screen image?

As @Arkadiusz Wroblewski said, that allocation may belong to a different product on your site. Rule limits are based on the product and the subscription plan, and the limit for a Standard Jira or JSM subscription is a flat 1700. To have an allowance of 40k you would have to be using a Premium subscription and that allowance would apply to only the app that is on the Premium subscription.

Hello @KEITH WILLIAMS

Your Jira is likely on a Standard plan (which only gets 1,700 runs/month), and the 40k limit you see belongs to a different Premium product on your site.

Check your usage under Jira settings → System → Automation → Usage. If you've hit the limit, your rules are paused until August 1st. Use this time to audit and optimize high-volume rules, such as broad "Issue updated" triggers, to save runs.

By the way, one thing to remember: rules that are scoped more broadly and affect your premium product will, when they have to choose which limit to use, pick the one with the bigger Automation limit.

Best,

Arek 🤠
