set up a product roadmap query to return epics and associated stories for a 4 month duration

Phil Stebbings July 18, 2023

I'm attempting to set up a basic roadmap that shows all projects(epics) and their associated issues for one month in the past and 3 months in the future.

Do I set up a query in JQL and then use that query as the source for my plan in Advanced Roadmaps? What does that query look like?

OR do I include the entire Jira board as my source for the plan and somehow filter the board down to the epics/stories I need to display on the roadmap?

Help would be appreciated!

Phil

Hello @Phil Stebbings

If you wanted to build a filter for this how would the time frame be applied to the issues? Do you want it compared to the issue creation date or something else?

Would you apply the time frame only to the Epics, and want to retrieve all the child stories associated with those Epics?

Jira does not natively support a method that lets you get a list of epics based on a filter and then get the stories associated with those Epics. Natively you have to explicitly list the parent Epic issue keys for which you want to get child stories. You would need a third party app that extends Jira filtering capabilities in order to get child issues based on a filter used to select the parent Epics.

I don't work much with AR, but at a glance I don't see a method to apply a date range field to the plan.
