"cloned" Jira server has blank screen

Hi,

I cloned our JIRA server v 7.12.1 with the intention of upgrading the clone to 8.4 so that I don't screw up our "live" JIRA server and then once I have an upgrade process that I know works 100%, I will upgrade the "live" server. 

When I try to access the cloned JIRA server in a web browser, I get a blank white screen.  Based on what I've read on the web, this might have something to do with the server.xml file or an Apache config file but so far, all of the suggestions I've tried have not worked.

This is a Centos cloud server hosted on AWS EC2.
