Hi,
I've found my way to 'moving' a sub-task from one task to another, by using the "Move" function - which enables me to change the parent.
However - Not all tasks appear in the search for me to be able to select. What am I missing?
What is the difference between a task you can see on the list and one that is not there? (My guess is different issue type, and the missing ones are of types that are sub-tasks so they cannot have other sub-tasks beneath them)
Hi Nic, thanks for the reply. Currently, we only use Epics, Tasks and Sub-Tasks. We're new to Jira, so we're just 'dipping our toes' as it were.

yes...probably obvious but just in case...make sure you are trying to move the sub-task to another task and not say an epic.

Ok, so what else is different between a task that appears on the list and one that does not?

@Josh_Peacock, what appears doesn't represent everything for sure. I'm unclear exactly what the algorithm is for what appears. Regardless, you need to know what the issuekey is and enter into the search and then it should appear. If you don't know it you need to search for it based upon what you do know, e.g. summary, some text, assignee, etc.

Hi Jack, thanks for the quick response. When searching for the issue, I was using the issue key. I also tried searching it by name and using "Select issue", which bought up a list, but still didn't contain the issue (task) I was after.
I can't narrow down why both the search function and the issue selector don't return specific issues.
